Ubertor Is Now Connected with the Whistler Listing System (WLS) https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2013/05/28/ubertor-is-now-connected-with-the-whistler-listing-system-wls/ https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2013/05/28/ubertor-is-now-connected-with-the-whistler-listing-system-wls/#respond Tue, 28 May 2013 22:46:37 +0000 http://blog.ubertor.com/?p=7487

We are proud to announce at Ubertor, the beginning of a great milestone and relationship with the Whistler Listing System (WLS). WhistlerListings.com provides direct public access to the most current and comprehensive listing of properties for sale through the Whistler Listing System (WLS) database, connecting buyers, sellers and Real Estate agents in one online location.

For those of you who are not familiar with auto-feed or auto-pull listings feature or are new to the Real Estate rhelm, most Real Estate boards provide a cooperative system for Real Estate professionals within a certain area to share their listings with other realtors. Whistler Listing System (WLS) provides the most up to date and comprehensive feeds for both Residential and Commercial properties in the Whistler, Pemberton and Sea-to-Sky region. In the example above you can see Whistler Realtor, Sharon Audley, auto populate her listings directly onto her website.

Being based out of beautiful Whistler, BC we found an opportunity to collaborate with one of our own local Real Estate listing systems in order to pull their feed automatically onto our clients’ website. WLS works in the exact same way as MLS auto feed, but for the Whistler  and surrounding community.

In the past, Realtors in Whistler were either forced to independently upload listings manually, receive their feeds from MLS listings or have the listings iframed from WLS. This was neither practical nor the most attractive way of uploading listings.

Now with Ubertor, we have provided our clients with a unique opportunity to select the feeds which fit closer to their needs. If you are a realtor in Whistler or surrounding area, we definitely encourage you to contact us and ask how you can receive automatic feeds from the Whistler Listing System directly onto your site.

We would like to congratulate Dave Burch on being Whistler’s top Real Estate agent under 40!

In 2013 alone he has sold over $5,000,000 in real estate with 10 sales. Such an amazing achievement for someone only 5 years into the industry. He was in the top 10%  of the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board with his combined MLS listings, sales and dollar value. He has been awarded with the MLS Medallion Club membership as well as the highest honor from the Whistler Board by reaching Platinum Performance Status.

We take our hats off to you Dave and we wish you luck in your future endeavours.

Side note: The programming of the site was done by Mike Blaney and his team.

Top 5 Reasons People All Over the World Call Whistler “Home” https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2013/02/12/top-5-reasons-people-all-over-the-world-call-whistler-home/ https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2013/02/12/top-5-reasons-people-all-over-the-world-call-whistler-home/#respond Wed, 13 Feb 2013 00:30:52 +0000 http://blog.ubertor.com/?p=6812 Whistler, B.C. is one of the best ski resorts in the world, with millions of visitors a year keeping this town going. But what factors come into play when someone decides this town isn’t just good for a holiday but would be a great place to call home…

Here are the top 5 reason people love to live in this adult playground:

5. New Friends!

It can be daunting moving somewhere where you don’t know anyone and you’re moving into a house with 5 strangers. That’s the best part about Whistler. There’s a good chance they’re all here for the same reason. The best part about moving to a new place is meeting new people. Whistler is a place where your housemates and work colleagues become your family. A great example is your typical Whistler Christmas is usually a bunch of friends enjoying a few drinks and some great food.

4. Summer Recreation

There is a lot more to this winter wonderland than the snow! Summer time usually brings more regional tourists than Winter (Whistler Visitors Statistics). Whistler mountain becomes one of the best Mountain Biking destinations in Canada during the summer – including the major Crankworx festival bringing the best in mountain biking to your backyard. On top of that you have many lakes, hiking and water sports to keep you active and busy.

3. Location

Only 1 1/2 hours from Vancouver and another 2 to Seattle the location of Whistler is unbeatable. Being able to ride on a mountain and by afternoon down by the coast is something special. It’s a huge deal for people considering living in Whistler as everything is at their fingertips: shopping, YVR Airport and of course, our friends down south in the United States.

2. Night Life

What’s better than a day of shredding on the mountain followed up with drinks with friends. Whistler’s apre’ and nightlife is a huge attraction for people. Whether you want to enjoy some quiet beverages on the patio of Longhorn Saloon and Grill or dance up a storm at one of the local clubs each filled with nightly themes. Whistler’s weekends are full of people from Vancouver, Seattle and all over the world! That shows how enjoyable the night scene is here.

1. Mountains

Of course the number 1 reason people call Whistler home is for the chance to enjoy 2 of the best ski mountains in the world. Have work at 12pm? Perfect chance to head up Whistler/Blackcomb for a few runs to start the day! How many people do you know that can say they ski in the morning and work in the afternoon? If you live and work in Whistler you also have the chance to be a part of the Spirit program where locals get huge discounts on their season pass and many of the mountain business’s. The best part about Whistler is that it doesn’t matter if this is your first time on a mountain or if you’re a pro – It caters to everyone.

#5. Who would guess that the 5th best mountain in North America can only be experienced by skiers? That’s right Alta Snowbird mountain in Utah, USA is a skiers only mountain. Besides the debates on whether this should be allowed, the mountain is still spectacular! This 10,550 ft high mountain averages around 1270 cm of snowfall a year. With over 116 runs and 11 lifts this mountain has plenty to offer any skier. Just under 50% of the mountain caters to intermediate skiers with a quater for beginners and the rest for the experts to show their skills. The mountain also holds the rights to the first lift tunnel stretching 180 m long covering a one way conveyer belt allowing easy access to the mountain for beginners especially on cold stormy days. Alta also has the most accessible meeting space for visitors, including 50,000 sq mt across 31 meeting rooms. This mountain has been open since 1971 will be one of the best for years to come.

#4. Jackson Hole, Wyoming came in 4th place thanks to Big Red, North America’s most iconic lift! #2. Aspen, Colorado is guaranteed to have on of its mountains appear on lists worldwide. Snowmass has been voted number 2 in North America. Opening in 1946, this mountain has been around longer than any other on this list. Targeted at the true ski fanatics, only 6% of the mountain caters for beginners. Snowmass is merely one of four mountains owned by Aspen. Feeling a bit peckish while your up there? well that is no problem with 9 different on mountain dining to choose from! Standing at 4,406 vertical ft, this mountain is the highest in the country.  It almost doubles our number 1 ski mountain in North America.

#1. As you probably guessed it, coming in at number 1 is our very own Whistler Blackcomb. Opening in 1966, these 2 mountains have become one of the most sort after destinations for tourists around the world. Whistler  attracts around 2 million visitors a year, with almost 1 million heading there to enjoy the winter wonderland. There is plenty of room for everyone with over 200 marked runs across the two mountains. One of the main attractions for Whistler Blackcomb is the peak to peak gondala. Opening in 2007, the peak to peak became the worlds longest continuous lift system in the world. With a height of 436 meters and an unsupported span of 3.024 km, this lift is truly so spectacular. The Top 5 Most Expensive Homes in Whistler https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2012/10/24/the-top-5-most-expensive-homes-in-whistler/ https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2012/10/24/the-top-5-most-expensive-homes-in-whistler/#comments Wed, 24 Oct 2012 20:21:20 +0000 http://blog.ubertor.com/?p=5627 Being up in Whistler we thought it’d be fun to research and write about the Top 5 Most Expensive Homes in Whistler. It’s truly amazing what some of these homes boast – all fit for royalty. Check out the list below. One even has a NHL size hockey rink.

#5. Ever dreamt of living on your own private street? Just imagine the amount of parking options you would have. Well the fifth most expensive house in Whistler has just that. The Chateau du lac at 2016 Nita Lane use to be the most exclusive house in Whistler for years. With a market value of $20,000,000 this house is incredible. It has currently been assessed at $9,598,000 putting it in 5th spot. With a living space of only 5,000 sq ft it is truly beautiful, with 20ft panoramic windows looking out at some of the best views in Whistler. The house was built with only durable and lasting materials meaning the up keep on this place is at a bare minimum. And just up the road from the Creekside gondola this place has a fantastic location.

#4. The home coming in at 4th place was decades before its time. Built in the early 90’s 4905 Horstman Place was one of the first large residence to be built in Whistler. This 7,000 sq. ft property has been assessed at $9,798,000 with a market value of $18,000,000. Reportedly owned by an Australian couple from Brisbane who work in the wine industry. 20 years after this home was built it remains in the top most expensive properties in Whistler and will be there for years to come.

#3. How can you build your house bigger than your property allows? Easy, buy the 2 lots next to you! 7473 Treetop Lane was completed in 2006 and consists of 2 homes on 2 lots joined together. Consisting of a personal gym and a separate guesthouse it’s understandable that this property has been assessed at $9,986,000 with a market value of $16,000,000. This property is a huge 9,000 sq ft with 8 bedrooms and 9 baths including 4 fireplaces! It is currently for sale at Whistler Real Estate for everyone willing to spend $21,000,000 on a home!

#2. The second largest home was built in 2005 and has been assessed at $12,571,000. 3827 Sunridge Drive was built by Taina Group Development and and stands at the top of Brio with spectacular views of Whistler. At 7,500 sq. ft it has 6 bedrooms, 7.5 baths and an indoor pool and spa for those cold winter nights. You can also find the listing for this property at Sea to Sky premier properties. With 5000 sq ft of deck entertainment space you’ll be on everyones favourite hosts lists.

#1. What does it take to be the Most Expensive home in Whistler? If you said a NHL size hockey rink with seating for over 100 of your closest friends you would have guessed right! This 1 level property spread across 500 ft. of waterfront is a spectacular modern creation in property development today. 2177 Lake Placid Rd is owned by Greg Kerfoot, the owner of the Vancouver Whitecaps soccer team. Greg is the CEO of Crystal Decisions and Seagate Software and his Whistler property has just added to his collection of prestige properties in BC. The property has been assessed with a value of $13,900,000! With a living area of 15,000 sq. ft this home is not short of space. The property is separated in a space age pod setup which is very cutting edge! I guess thats what it takes to be Whistler’s Most Expensive Property.
