This intimate private event was setup as an opportunity for Seth to speak with us about marketing and being “remarkable” in all that we do. Plus we all had an opportunity to discuss our businesses with him and get his feedback, ideas, thoughts, etc on our specific businesses and industries.

Lots was gained by this exclusive opportunity. I took tons of notes from the full day event but wanted to point out a couple of things that Seth said that I found really interesting with regard to the real estate market.

First, he mentioned that 91% of real estate agents in the US don’t speak with their client after the closing of the deal. His point was that this is a tragedy and a loss of future opportunity. He talks about how marketing to people is difficult, especially if they are not listening. But past clients are listening and by marketing to them, you will see more results.

Seth also mentioned that if he was a real estate agent he would run a workshop on how to sell your home without a real estate agent. The idea being that it gets a bunch of people interested in selling their homes in a room with you, so that you can show them how much work can and does go into it. He said, some will go ahead and try and sell it themselves, but some will decide that it is too much work. It is an interesting thought.

Lots was gained by this workshop. It was a pleasure meeting Seth and having the opportunity to meet with him in such a small setting. Here are a few photos from the event:

Seth Godin does not promote the VOW https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2008/02/22/seth-godin-does-not-promote-the-vow/ https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2008/02/22/seth-godin-does-not-promote-the-vow/#comments Fri, 22 Feb 2008 21:36:10 +0000 http://blog.ubertor.com/2008/02/22/seth-godin-does-not-promote-the-vow/ Marketing guru, Seth Godin wrote a great post today in his blog about the real estate market and Realtors specifically. Here are a few snippets:

“Plan A: You should quit selling real estate.”

“Some of you will stick with the standard business card with the standard photo, the standard office and the standard ad strategy and the standard approach to making the phone ring. It’s going to be a long haul if that’s your route.”

“The ones that are left, that’s you, can consider Plan B:
If you’re not going to be able to make a living by taking orders, by selling houses the way everyone else does, by using the never-ending rise in real estate prices to make sales, then what are you going to do? Whining is not an option.
In fact, I think this is an extraordinary opportunity for you.”

“The first is to become the expert in what you do….”

Check out the rest of Seth’s post about marketing real estate. It is an interesting take on the market and it has NOTHING to do with the listing. It is all about becoming an expert in your field.

Search Engine Keyword Tips https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2006/10/08/search-engine-keyword-tips/ https://www.ubertor.com/blog/2006/10/08/search-engine-keyword-tips/#comments Sun, 08 Oct 2006 17:07:54 +0000 http://blog.ubertor.com/?p=367 I wrote a few weeks ago about a single keyword phrase that had a very high search rate, but very few websites competing for that term. The term was “realestate agent in memphis tenn” and now if you Google that term, you will see that my blog is number 1 and 2 and my Squdioo lens is number 4.

I have done some more research and found some interesting keyword phrases that are highly searched, but not highly competitive for getting your website to be found under those terms. Here are some examples:

“homes sold in new orleans”
There were approximately 44 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There is approximately 1 website targeting this term.

“property listings parry sound”
There were approximately 168 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 2 websites targeting this term.

“affordable cottage property for sale in parry sound ontario”
There were approximately 205 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 5 websites targeting this term.

“new homes for sale in memphis area”
There were approximately 472 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 100 websites targeting this term.

“sell san antonio home”
There were approximately 81 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 2 websites targeting this term.

“sell house fast dallas”
There were approximately 52 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 3 websites targeting this term.

“hillsborough fast home sell”
There were approximately 51 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 3 websites targeting this term.

“vancouver canada real estate listing”
There were approximately 10 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 0 websites targeting this term.

Want to see an example of a popular keyword phrase that almost all Realtors want to be found under but that is not worth worrying about? Everyone wants to be found under “your city real estate”. Here is an example of why it is better to concentrate your efforts on the low hanging fruit rather than the highly competitive terms:

“vancouver real estate”
There were approximately 62 searches of this particular keyword phrase in Google within the last 24 hours.
There are approximately 263000 websites targeting this term!
